I put two or three filters, full of grounds, in the compost every day.  Sometimes the crows get into the compost, in which case the filters are likely to end up scattered here and there.

But for the most part, they just disappear, turned into compost with everything else.  I think that's pretty neat.

way back when i worked at the cobourg ecology garden, i would take my wheelbarrow downtown and collect as many buckets of coffee grinds and filters as possible.
it really helps the composting process, since the grounds are so fine and wet and smooshy they really help fill in the big gaps between other stuff like brush and bracken. the pre-moistened bit is really awesome too.
i find it really helps with any odd smells too, the whole heap continuously smells of coffee. this covers up any grave composting errors, laziness in turning it, and excess of moisture or grassclippings.

on the surface of the soil they really do help keep out slugs and snails and other squishy things. i've heard it's the remnant caffeine content that drys them out.
it makes a great mulch anyway, very attractive colour and texture. second only to cacao shells in my opinion.
