Vegas is fun by jayhawk88 (4.00 / 1) #4 Mon May 12, 2008 at 05:23:39 PM EST
So long as you keep your expectations low and the dosage small. "Crazy" Vegas is there of course but in my experience is almost never worth the price and/or effort. Example: The first time I went out there was with 4 of my friends when I was still single, we were all around ~25-27 I'd guess. We did a red eye out there on a Sunday and stayed until Thursday, way too long, we were all pretty much broke by Wed afternoon. Did incredibly stupid things like spending all afternoon in 100 degree heat drinking beer and walking the strip, paying way too much to get into some techno club, pissing off all our money at the sports book, and having a return flight that left about 10 hours after hotel checkout time, with nothing better to do (and no money to do anything with) than to go hang out at the airport.

You're right, Vegas spends a lot of money pimping the "OMG Wild Party Time" image, but ironically it's a lot more fun when you're married. Seriously, great spot to take a vacation for you now. Nice romantic hotel rooms, tons of great places to eat, a lot of shops and stuff you can just spend time walking around with the SO and browse. Things like Blue Man Group or Circ de Sole if you all are into that kind of stuff.

I'm bound to go by duxup (2.00 / 0) #8 Mon May 12, 2008 at 05:34:56 PM EST
I'm bound to give it a spin sometime regardless of my feelings about it.  I can't wait to bust out the woooooh! I'm having such a crazy corporately homogenized carefully monitored adult daycare wild time!

Truth be told, in some ways that's what I want in every vacation, except the "wooh".  I don't "wooh!".

I did like Circ de Sole the last time I went, but of course that was up here in the reasonably priced midwest.
